- i am having a problem getting this modem to recognize a dial tone.
- i have a sportster 28.8 (one of the new ones that should do 33.6)
-
- system configuration
- com1, irq4 nothing attached
- com2, irq3 mouse
- com3, irq4 modem
-
- i have com1 reserved for a tnc for my ham equipment but at this time nothing
- is attached.
-
- the modem responds to keyboard commands. i am able to create my default
- settings and save them in register block 0. i can recall that register
- and verify the settings. however, when i attempt to check the phone line
- (atdt) i get a "no dialtone" response. attempts to actually dial a number
- are similarly thwarted. tech support at u.s.r. tells me that the problem
- is with irq4. they tell me i will need to reconfigure things to avoid the
- irq4 conflict. however, my ppi modem (int 28.8 v.fc) works in the same system
- with the same setup. i don't see why there should be a conflict with irq4
- since i don't have anything installed on com1.
-
- can someone shed some light on this, please?
-
- please post a response in this newsgroup. if you wish to email me, i can
- be reached at wapembe@smart.net or hangman@gallows.smart.net. thanks.
